Job Description

As an Account Lead at Hot Paper Lantern, this is what we expect:

  • Account/Project Management: Leads day-to-day activity across communications-led accounts and projects to ensure quality projects are delivered within the budget and timeline promised for the engagement(s).
  • Communications Strategy and Counsel: Digs into client business to develop understanding ;questions and listens for understating to determine true client needs; develops communications strategies and executions plans that tackle client’s business and communications challenges.
  • Communications Program Execution: Understands the communications tools and skills required to solve a client challenge and deploys those tools appropriately; guides and implements a range of communications activities, including messaging and positioning, media relations, content development and executive thought leadership.
  • Media Relations: Leverages storytelling skills and relationships with key journalists to insert our clients into the news cycle; does this in a way that highlights its key points of differentiation, expertise and values; grows and develops media relationships that are of benefit to the agency.
  • Business Development: Supports new and organic business development; seeks out opportunities on existing business; participates in new business pitches; writes proposals and scopes for new work; contributes to agency thought leadership.
  • Coaching and Development: Takes on employee management responsibilities, including guiding career paths, learning and development efforts, goal setting and tracking, and providing regular and real-time feedback for direct reports.

Required Skills / Experience

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study (e.g. Communications, Public Relations)
  • 6+ years of experience in public relations, strategic communications, corporate communications
  • Strong knowledge of the media landscape and extensive media relationships across traditional, online and broadcast media
  • At least 2+ years of supervisory experience; comfortable acting as a mentor, developing career paths for direct reports
  • Highly developed writing ability
  • Knowledge of current and emerging technologies/platforms impacting the communications space
