Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Communications Industry Proficiency: Maintains an ongoing understanding of the changing role of communications and social media and actively contributes POV through idea generation, recommendations, and suggestions for improvement. Stays up to date on news, industry trends, and trending topics.  
  • Media Relations: Demonstrates acumen in media relations across trade, local, and national media, and consistently delivers results. Shows an understanding of the strategic and tactical elements of media relations, as well as the ability to build and grow working relationships with the media.  
  • Social Media: Demonstrates acumen in social media; able to play a community management role in social media across a variety of platforms and develop content for those platforms.  
  • Content Development: Demonstrates excellence across all written materials; executes a variety of writing assignments that span across Hot Paper Lantern’s different disciplines. Is a clear, concise, persuasive, and solid writer; where appropriate, shows creativity in business writing.  
  • Client Service & Account Support: Develops and maintains accurate and timely account reporting documents; conducts research and provides analysis; supports measurement efforts; demonstrates an ability to deliver quality work on multiple deadlines; ability to clearly and concisely communicate ideas and provide feedback on accounts.  
  • Critical-thinking skills: Connects the dots between client requests/goals and how to achieve those goals; analyzes information and succinctly captures the essence in memos and other documents; can deliver compelling research documents.  
  • Brand Ambassador: Represents the agency well in client, new business, and marketing interactions; contributes ideas and knowledge to the agency with an eye on continuous improvement.  
  • Skills Development: Proactively seeks opportunities to deepen understanding of the client’s business, products, markets, and key influencers. Demonstrates initiative in undertaking projects to gain hands-on experience across Hot Paper Lantern’s diverse service offerings, including PR, marketing, creative, research, and digital strategies.

Required Skills / Experience

  • 1-2+ years of full-time experience, preferably in an agency environment.
  • Proven track record in earned media coverage.
  • B.A., or four-year equivalent in journalism, marketing, communications, or related industry.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the role expectations, and can demonstrate basic experience in those known areas.

Salary range: $55,000-$60,000
